#WIMS: Walking in My Shoes – Day 1
Most American woman have on average 19 pairs of shoes. The last time I counted I had upwards of 70 pairs, some of which haven’t seen the light of day since they were purchased. Enter, WALKING IN MY SHOES (#WIMS). The first installment of WIMS officially began on Monday, May 16th. Marvin (neighbor, co-worker, friend) and I have each committed to wear a different pair of shoes currently on our shoe rack for the next 19 days. If on any day before June 3rd we opt not to wear a seasonally appropriate pair of shoes on the shoe rack, we have committed to donate the pair(s) at the end of the project. Wish us luck as we attempt to defy the tendency for us Americans to over-consume, in general.

dazed & confused
Dazed and confused as to why I let you
perpetuate those things that you continue to do
Uncontrollable emotions intertwined amongst disappointment upon disappointment
All of this shit got me feeling blue
in the midst of all the obligations for your cousins and your guys
when will we get the quality time to gazed deep in each others eyes
“understanding is what we need”
but these emotional stabs in the heart got me feeling like I’m bout to bleed
up and down, topsy turvy, in and out
all these feeling bottled up inside of me are about to make me shout
how I let you affect me in this way is beyond my comprehension
at times I feel like letting you go would relive a whole hella of a lotta tension
but to run from my issues this time is not the solution
cause for the two of us I want to see longevity and a positive conclusion
like a emotional virgin unknowing how to deal with what I am feeling at this time
baby what it all boils down to is I just want you to be mine
you and me, me and you, you in me, me on top of you
doing all those things you know we like to do
images of you and me playing in my mind
constantly wishing I could feel your tender touch on my submissive body
to just say “I care about you” is not enough
for you and I both know this relationship thing is gonna be tough
willing to work on me for a better us
anxious to see what the future holds for mr. understanding and mrs. rambunctious

concrete jungle
those of you who know me personally know that at any given time, I have my hands in multiple projects. my newest promotional project is for recording artist NNEKA. i received my materials this evening and was immediately energized to hit the streets and spread the word. my good friend Tezzy put me on to the uber loving conscious freestyling songstress just over a year ago. from day one I was intrigued by Nneka’s ability to unregretably deliver such revealing truth based out of unconditional love. her music is honest, soulful, revealing, and motivating all at once. although she dropped her first album Victim of Truth in the UK back in 2007, Concrete Jungle will be Nneka’s first US album release (February 2, 2010). the Afro-
German beauty recently started a 14 city tour in support of her album release (check below for tour cities and dates). be sure to check her out, i know i plan on being in the building when she comes to the Chi so I can vibe to my favorite tracks: Heartbeat, Gypsy, Walking, and Focus.
“Needed to search myself to go back. Had no signs of hope before was lost in the darkness…But now I know God has brought me here for something.” (Mind vs. Heart)
“In short and infact where do we go from here when we lack love in our hearts. When we lack an open heart and lie to ourselves and the one that truly loves, that we love. But truly we do not really give a fuck.” (Focus)
Download “The Uncomfortable Truth“ Nneka’s first single off Concrete Jungle for FREE from iTunes today. The song is the iTunes single of the week!

humdrum town
for those of you who have slept on Theophilus London for the past year or so, it’s time to wake up. born and raised in
Brooklyn, this cat is making moves and getting his name out there which can primarily be credited to his two self-released mixtapes JAM! and This Charming Mixtape. London is an energetic, vibrant, and passionate artist which I was fortunate to witness a few months back when he performed in the Chi. some of my favorite tracks off This Charming Mixtape are Cold Pillow, The Drug, Crazy Cousins, and Computer Love.
“I was watching and listening to a lot of melancholy Marvin Gaye songs and videos,” commented Theophilus London about the video concept. “A lot of inspiration came from there. I always thought of what my first video would be like when I got started into music and I feel really good about this one.”
check out the video below for his debut single “Humdrum Town”
